On the River Sky

The salmon have come home

to the place they began

laying their offspring

in the shallow river Sky

The pebbles bury the pearls

delivered by the brave mom

who braced rapid and rock

dam and hook

to bring her children home

When she arrives

She welcomes her young ones

to the beauty bursting in bountiful

flourishes of foliage

shimmering a glittering spectacle

upon the surface of their water womb.

Home is the golden light

falling in flutter

a return to the source

their own coming home

Well done, sweet mom.

Well done.
